Quite out of the blue I decided to dig out this is project I started working on a couple of years ago. I had gone through a years’ worth of photos of protests and demonstrations photos…a sort of review of the year, if you will.
I couldn’t help seeing the sudden changes from one frame to the next, perfectly symbolising and summarising the volatility of these situations. Some of the sudden movement also comes from me quickly changing position to attempt to get ahead of it or predict it.
I experimented with polygonal masks in Photoshop to create sharp blends of the photos. The next step would be to use AfterEffects and use motion to achieve a more dynamic effect.
